Studio paintings VS Plein Air paintings

This large 24x48 panorama of the Rubies that I'm working on in the studio drove me into a frenzy to get outside to paint!  Impossible to get the same feeling in the studio.

Thank goodness I had a gorgeous day to get outside to paint!! I am suffering with a bit of cabin fever despite the "glass hut"  I have to sit in. I really needed to see if I could breath more life into my colors and there is absolutely no substitute for first hand experience. After a few hours out my own front door and two paintings later I'm a very happy girl!  Can you "feel" the difference in the two paintings?  Now I'm ready to tackle the large piece again..... Hey, maybe I'll haul it outside to finish up!

11x14    Oil - a challenge mixing the different shades of blue and still be warm.

They are both beautiful!! But I agree the colors come to life outside, maybe its the sun dancing across the painting : )

Hi Kathryn, Beautiful painting! Great colors.

I met your friend Susie at the animal shelter and she emailed me about painting together. I tried to respond to her but she didn't get it so could you tell her I did get her email but am having trouble responding. She can just call me. She has my number. Thanks, Tam
