Red White and Blue

20x16 Oil on linen

The name for this painting sounds very patriotic! I kept trying to come up with a wonderful name for it the whole time I was painting it....which I enjoyed very much by the way. But really nothing would come to mind, I do get a calming feeling though when I look at this piece,
but I kept coming back to the simple colors of the painting for the name.

The piece of pottery is one I own from Tuscarora Pottery here in Nevada, a treasured piece and I remember vividly my guilty pleasure when my husband paid for it, which was more than I would have paid!  But I'm glad he did.

Bring It

12x16 oil
A sunny afternoon drive brought us face to face with this horse, he looked up from his afternoon grazing as if to say "Bring It" I laughed and immediately thought,  tough guy!
On another note, I say this phrase to my pup all the time and she brings her toys in after carting them all outside for the day, she's very smart and so much fun!

Hope your all off to a great start for your New Year, it's been a rough start for me so far, dentist, twisted ankle, the cat knocked a full vase of flowers to the floor and the house needs cleaning desperately but today all of that is on hold, I'm happily painting the day away!

Thanks for stopping by,
Kathryn

Misty Spring Days

12x16 oil on linen

Gosh, has it really been a month since I last posted? I have been painting a lot this winter and have gotten quite picky I suppose, it seems that nothing is turning out "just right" and this is one of those paintings! My reference photo is of a gorgeous place and the day was cold and misty with a touch of sun peaking through every once in a while. When I paint landscapes in the studio I use my own photo's but after the idea is cast I focus on what I remember of the day while I was there. It was such a quiet peaceful day! Hope you can see that in this piece.

Here's what it will look like framed!

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day.
