Here are some more class room studies from the Ron Arthaud class I'm taking. It is so fun and very different for me to explore the simple shapes and passages of colors set out before us. I am always intrigued from the moment I get to class, seeing what kind of STUFF gets tossed in the middle of the room to paint from all angles so that everyone can find something interesting. I am still working with a limited palette and really I have no desire to expand on it at this moment. Part of the fun for me is to see if I can mix the huge range of colors I see with only the basics.

I'm considering doing a series of "BREAK TIME paintings" What do you think? I loved the hats that one of the ladies brought in and of course adding the cup tells a story!

A rusty oil can, cloth and the frightening part for me a white hand cast.I am glad I pushed past my fear to get those fingers in there! I would like to do some more studies with the casts.

Bags, bags and more bags! Oh and a rusty can smack in the middle to break up all that paper....here I was concerned about the red, as red commands your attention! I really enjoyed painting the bags so much that I've worked on some more in my studio.

A very nice still life is started while the wind is raging outside - hopefully I won't "Ru in it"!

What a terrific post you created.. The paintings are so excellent. Love each one of the class still-lives, plus the one in your studio..Each one is worthy for "Paintings Art For Sale Daily Painters". Keep up the wonderful work...
Thank you Susie!! your such a boost for my self-confidence for sure! I am collecting a wild assortment of paintings aren't I?
See you soon, I hope.
I love these Kathryn!! I can see you are paining with much more confidence. Your still life is going to be beautiful. The set up is simple and elegant. It reminds me of one of Kathleen's. See you soon.
love the studies you are doing! love the idea of doing break time! Maybe throw in some kids working gloves with the hats and coffee cup to add anoher dimension and thought. But that could just be my mom brain thinking" where are the kid hat and gloves" :) but that might be TOO much stuff? hmm just a thought
Hey Thanks Yvonne - I'm always working on the issues of confidence.
I am enjoying the still life painting I'm working on....I do like the setting very much. I so admire Kathleens work and yes it reminds me too of the sort of still life she would do. Hope I can do it justice.
Hi Michelle! Great ideas to explore if I decide to do the break time series. I do think your in Mommy mode for sure. My break time thoughts are coming from a different angle right now....hubby home and break time seems to come every hour of the day! LOL
